reset messed up terminal keywords : reset terminal messed up weired characters bin binary screwed Every did cat on a jpg-file and found loads of garbage on your screen and the charset changed so your bash-prompt now looks exactely like: [⎼⎺⎺├@±⎺┌␍°␋⎽␌ └▒␋┌]# You can now terminate the terminal and start a new one (which is what I did for years until yesterday) or you can just run the reset-command (thnx to Kees T. in c.o.l.m which helped me out here) #reset and your terminal is as new ;) serial : 375 If you found any nonsense in this entry or want to see important improvements, I would appreatiate to receive your comments at knowledge@goldfisch.at disclaimer : all these entries are part of my very private knowledgebase that I created while solving problems.
