Ubuntu Avahi Daemon

I dont know what this avahi-daemon is exactely but its really a pain in the ass. At least it does some silly interferring with dns-lookups in my local network.

Before I disabled it, I had dns-troubles with my .local-domain.

removing the whole package did not work proper, cause a lot of other packages claim to depend on it (although many people in the net claim that this is not true and removing is fine)

I just disabled the start of it:

find /etc/rc* -iname “*avahi*” | xargs rm
